Atomising Systems Limited is a private company in Sheffield that specializes in the technology of metal powder production by atomisation. Building on the considerable experience of its founders, ASL has been in operation since 1992 and has clients in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Holland, India, Japan, Korea, Norway, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA.
A major area of expertise is water atomisation, with experience of atomising rates from 3 to 500 kg/min and melt weights from 200 gms to 80 tonnes. Powders of precious metals, non-ferrous metals, iron, steels and alloys of nickel and cobalt are all produced using ASL equipment
ASL offers gas atomisation systems which can be provided with the ASL's 'Anti-Satellite' technology. This 'Anti-Satellite' technology dramatically reduces the incidences of small powder particles being stuck to larger particles. Reduction of satelliting increases the flowability of powders. ASL has over 25 units in operation for clients who produce metal alloys for brazing, amalgams and many other products.
ASL is also a world leading source of technology and equipment for the production of non-metallic powders by atomisation. ASL has experience of a wide variety of non-metallic melts such as salts (halides) oxides, sulphides, borates, silicates, chocolate, sulphur, silicon and plastics. Melting points range from 40ºC to over 2000ºC."
Special Powder Services
Atomising Systems Ltd now has within its facility a number of atomisers for the production of special powders.
- A gas atomiser, complete with
ASL's 'Anti-Satellite' technology, is currently the
largest capacity system (50kg and 150kg batch capability).
- A
small scale water atomiser and a small scale water quenched gas
atomiser (30kg batches), whilst a larger water atomiser is also to be
installed during 2005 (also with a 50kg and 150kg batch
capability).
- An Ultrasonic Atomiser specifically designed for
the production of high quality low temperature solder powders.
This pilot plant facility allows
ASL to produce a wide range of powder types, from small
test batches to specially commissioned production runs for our
clients.
ASL can either toll atomise the client’s
alloy or supply a complete service with the alloy included.
